It was a rhetorical question!

It smacked of crude generalisation to me.

Perhaps in your small judgemental mind.

What was so crude and judgemental about my post.

The fact is that the TCs are joined to the hip with their motherland and they remind us just about daily how they depend on their motherland to guarantee their safety.

Bit like Churches being turned to Mosques huh?

Once a Mosque, always a Mosque ...... but sod the rest!

Deniz you may have "acquired" the title you freely gift yourself of "Cypriot" but by the very fact you have any association with the most destructive force to hit Cyprus which continued to the present day occupation, suggests you may not be so "good" for Cyprus ....

Did the Cypriots have any choice in all these Ottoman/Turk/TCs becoming "Cypriot"?

Who asked us (natives) who could become Cypriot?

In another thread there is a very disappointing interview with Talat, poste by Halil, in which he says clearly that if Turkey asked him to stop negotiating he would. The interview puts an official end to any idea that the TCs are Cypriots first and everything else second. But why?

I am sure that if pressed the TC posters would point out that TCs have no choice but to toe the Turkish line because they fear for their lives.

Most of the same posters pour scorn and ridicule on the idea that Cyprus would ever be in a position to militarily threaten Turkey.

There is a paradox in the above views. If Cyprus is not match for Turkey then where is the threat?

So what stops you from asserting yourselves, in your own country for heavens sakes! I suspect the real reason is that the TC community is refusing to mature and accept the responsibility of independence, which also explains the need for special status and treatment in any field, and also explains the views expressed by both Denktash and Talat that the TCs are no match for the GCs in business etc. Such views perpetuate the idea of the special case needing special treatment.

There is another side to such an attitude. That perhaps the TCs do not believe in their satus as a community able to stand on its own feet, even when equality is guaranteed. So they always need more. More territory, more guarantees, more special rules, more of everything. The problem is that more will not solve this particular problem, it just makes it worse.

Just saw today's comment by Sener Levent in Politis. It ties in with the above.

"What folly it is to think that Turkey will cut off our relations with the world and its financial aid to us if we do not do as she says. Whatever Turkey gives us she takes back twofold. The money she sends here is not enough even for the people she has brought to the island. We are not the ones who need Turkey. Turkey needs us. What do they expect from us, to lay our heads on the block, on top of everything else?"

Unfortunately that is a minority voice in the north.

As all Cypriots you talk about, I had no choice of my birth. I became a sparkle in my fathers eye, and he before me, way back to the Chirokitians or whereever the sparkle was lit. Its called fate. We cannot be answerable to past 'sparkles' can we?

That also describes your stupid behavior to which you are seemingly blind. Nobody will ever have any respect for you for as long as you assume that you're entitled to two sets of rules.

In case you’re wondering, I am not after the respect of a sleaze bucket.

Also, you make a very could point but it is a pity that you are too blind to see the hypocrisy.

It is the TCs that are demanding a permanent attachment to their motherland. We gave up on these ideals long ago.

But the ideal of holding on to our Hellenic heritage and cultural links will go on as they have done so for 4,000 years.

Dumb Arse!
