If any of you have any doubts about whether Cypriots are Hellenes visit the Magna Grecia region of southern Italy.

The older folks there speak just like us Cypriots. Centuries after the colonisation of the area by Greeks the language survives. The similarity between that dialect and Cypriot dialect is evidence of the common heritage. That common heritage does not obligate us to become part of the modern Greek state. That is another issue altogether. Greece has shown itself not to be too intelligent in regard to centers of Hellenism outside its borders. If anyone cannot conceive of the wider notion of Hellene and Hellenism it is the inhabitants of the modern Athenocentric state.

Do you have a problem with the beauty inherent in an aged, lined face that has seen life?

I said she looks like a Greek Cypriot whose dialect is similar to the Greek Cypriot one. I posted the video to show this and there are still Greek speakers in Italy. I hope thats ok with you?

.... such a confusing over-generalisation. Personally I have seen a few older ladies in Cyprus who like something like her. But then again going around the UK, I see many that look like her, lots around Italy and even more in the part of France I visit!

So who is the "us" you were referring to? ... Europeans I presume!
