Most of the people with these banenrs are idiots, they are playing a game. If Apeol fans call them Turks, and beg of EOKA B to return, wave Greek flags and do Hitler salutes, it was only a matter of time before people in the Omonoia camp started waving anti-Greek banners back at them.

If we are to follow the mentality of a picture speaks a thousand words, then we must also look at at the pictures above.

PS: DT you 'd better keep your mouth shut this time.

So you would prefer to fly Turkih flags instead of Greek flags?

I think it's time to add some more context...

When the Green line opened, Turkish Cypriot Omonoia supporters started to attend the games as guests of Omonoia. It included banners in Greek and Turkish seeking peace.

The Omonoia fans were called Turks by the right wing teams for doing this, and ridiculed in some of the banners, like the one with the Turkish flag an the Omonoia emblem on it.

This upsurge in ultra nationalist sentiment, that peaked with Xrysi Avghi neo Nazis attending Apoel games with Swastikas and doing Nazi Salutes (to be fair to Apoel, there was some sort of official reaction).

The Omonoia fans responses to the Greek uber nationalists was generally a disregard for any Greek symbols, the Greek flag with the hammer and sickle replacing the cross was actually quite funny. You need to be able to detach yourself from the whole thing and see the funny side sometimes.

However, the 'Turk' insults mixed with the EOKA B banners from ultra right wingers led to the response from a minority group in omonoia fans was clear, they started being ironic with regards to the 'Turk' insults, and some of them adopted the Fenerbahce "1453" banner, and the "trnc" flag was also displayed by a lone idiot who was later expelled from the stands.

It is all getting ridiculous, and some sections of the clubs and fans have allowed sensitive issues to be lowered to this level. To be fair since 2007 things are much calmer and these sort of banners and swatzikas have not reappeared, at least during matches.

Fuck off DT, when you learn to detatch yourself from any sort of nationalistic syndromes that you may carry and analyse things in the right context then I may once again enter the process of exchanging real arguments with you.
It is sad that when it comes to football the fanatisism that you carry blinds you to such an extend that you are more than happy to generalise the acts of some idiots. I am sure that you can see the difference between us two...I never claimed that all apoel fans are neonazis even though you and your other idiot pal pafitis where quick to call the other names.

fuck off? Why are you swearing? I've got no problems with you but I think you've gone a little overboard now.

Just when I was starting to like you for sticking to your guns. :?

askimwos wrote:Even at a match where Omonoia performance was horrible all your mediocre team managed to do was to hang on a nailbiting 3-2! You seem to forget that even at our worst performance we managed to miss a penalty, hit the post and had another 2-3 chances narrowly saved by your keeper.

I wouldn't talk too much if I were you because all that talking will prove embarassing come next Monday when your shitty team will get hammered by another mediocre team like Paralimni.

Watch this space.
