Turkish Cypriot Healthcare

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

It is based on the annual income of each family. If it is below 9,000 pounds (15,500 euro,) the members of this family are not entitled to this benefit. The only exception is with the civil service employees which are all entitled irrespective of annual income. Turkish Cypriots are all assumed to earn below that limit because there is no way to determine how much they actually earn.

It's NOT free man, who said it is free??? They set criteria according to your salary. This criteria is so strict that ONLY very poor people and pensioners are elligible. This criteria apply to all the slaves BUT NOT for the Government employees! Oh no, not for them! Even if they get 10,000 pounds a month!

To give you an example of what it costs me, last year I paid about 1500 pounds for just a half an hour operation to have my wifes galiblader removed, this year until today I paid 600 because my daughter broke her leg, plus all sorts of small amounts for private gynecologists, pathologists, dentists, and what-have-you. In addition to those doctor fees due to monopolies in Cyprus the medicines from Pharmacies cost 3 times more than in Greece. And I talk about EVERY MEDICINE. Last time I was in Greece I bought 1 box of Additiva Vitamin C and I paid about 2 Euros here it costs 3.5 Pounds (6 Euros). On the average my family pays about 100 pounds a month for doctors and medicines...Some people go to the occupied areas to get their medicines because the prices there are normal, but i don't like going there because they ask for passports and i feel embarassed to show my passport to travel in my own country....

My biggest fear is if something serious happens to me or my wife or m children I will have to sell the house and all my properties to pay the private doctors. For your information each of my children costed me around 400 pounds just to be borned. They both came with cessarian btw.

Imagine how I feel when the TCs come here and accuse us on top of it. I don't mind the TCs getting free medical care, but what am I, a second class citizen, a slave of the RoC and her government employees?

Exactly Garbitsch. ALL the TCs are eligible even if they are millionaires!

Correct. So tell me kifeas when both parents work is there a possibility that the family income will be less than 9,000 per year when the minimum salary for each one is 400 pounds a month? Is there any family in Cyprus that can survive without both parents working?

Sounds outrageous

Wouldn't private medical insurance be cheaper?

Did you and your wife deciode on a Caesaerean Section or were you "encouraged" by your doctors.

We certainly were but opted for a natural birth instead.

The Doctor was very upset but had to agree.

I think it probably upset his diary or something

Certainly most young women fere believ CS is "Normal" and it suits their diaries better too
