Is the doom and gloom the same in Cyprus??

Postby Z4 » Wed Oct 29, 2008 9:43 pm

The UK is full of doom and gloom and we are heading for a serious recession. Companies are making major cut backs and not spending, consumers are not spending and there are several companies about to go under. (many companies have already closed)

Has the doom and gloom spread to Cyprus or is it just the UK that is finding it really tough at the moment?

But are companies still trading with each other? It seems like everyone has stopped over here.

The wages in CY are cr*p your right but the cost of living and interest rates (loans) are very low compared to over here.

Are you seeing companies/businesses go under?

Not at present, however this will catch up with us soon, maybe after 6-8 months when no tourists will be visiting.

Just think about it... If people are loosing their jobs around the world, I'm sure they cant afford a holiday... some of which may have been to Cyprus.

The main income to the Cyprus economy is tourism... this global issue doesn't make it any better.

I am sure a 7 year old child could have figured that out!!!

It will effect Cyprus in the long run, I dont think anywhere will escape the recession, there will definitely be a knock on effect. :(

The awful state of the UK will have effect on several countries. including CY.

The sale of land may well have done good things for the economy to date but the money will run out, then what? Sell some more?
