Many hotels and restaurants usually close down for Winter.

People forget that family-run business have to wait until the quieter times to get their holidays (one of my "cousins" has gone to Australia over our winter months, for the last ten years, but runs a successful business in Cyprus, just in the Summer months).

Also many Cypriots have secondary work in agriculture and this takes priority over winter.

Yet we still see advertising in the UK, extoling the virtues of Cypriot Winter sunshine. The you find difficulty finding a good eatery. When you do, there is a big rush for the few that remain open, and not usually your first or second choice.
