Finding a solution by Cypriots for Cypriots

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Thu Oct 30, 2008 12:42 am

How about finding the "middle ground" in Turkey, e.i. split Turkey in two and give half of it to us?

You used force to take half of our island, you will not give back what belongs to us, and we will not accept to sign it off to you. That is why a solution can not be found.

Let them find the middle ground, thats not my problem. And you still have not worked out that you will get your land back when a comprehensive solution is found and we unite under a BBF with political equality. Its the other details we are having problems with unless you do not want to live under TC administration which is what you are trying to force upon us.

Why should I want to live under TC administration on territory which belongs to GCs by 80%+ ? What gives you the right to rule our land? You think we are living in the era of the Ottoman empire?

then why are you forcing me to live under GC administration? 20% of that land is mine and only remaining 9% or less will be GC owned.

We never forced anything on you my friend. You are the ones who decided to invade us, transfer your population here, and become a minority on an island where we have been the great majority for 1000s of years.

If you didn't want to be a minority in Cyprus then why you came to our island? Or your plan was to commit genocide against us (like you did with many other nations in Asia Minor) and become the majority here? Something which you put in action for the north part of our island in 1974.

Also I am not sure about your maths here. 20% is yours and 9% is ours???? What are you talking about? So who owns the rest 71%? The Chinese?

In north Cyprus 82% is ours and 18% is yours. That is how it is.

I am just as indigenous to this island as you are, and get it into your thick skull an equal partner, to find a solution do we not have 50% say? does our yes or no count any less than yours? Comes to terms with it as that is what your leaders are negotiating right now 2 equal founding states, 2 equal partners, 2 voices, 2 sides, 2 opinions not just GCs and the rest of us have to lump it, you have to change your stance otherwise it looks like you are being left behind or is your leadership bullshitting the world?

The distribution will change to approx 29%north 71%south, because your leaders are negotiating a BBF right now and this was agreed as far back as 1977, please try to change it now Id love to see the reaction of the international community.

The % split is pretty much constant in all negotiations and those GCs like you who do not want to live in the north can sell up or keep their properties renting them out if they can be physically returned, the difference is made up of TCs who have built their lives on exchanged land and do not want to go south to reclaim land surrendered to the TRNC government, this is where the problem lies and will have to be solved imo opinion by financial compensation or exchange for TC land in the south this will take the total figure of TC land in the south to a minimum and the exchanged/compensated land to around 18% add to this the GC owned land, plus state land and you will arrive at a figure which has been on the table throughout previous negotiations 29%.

TCs are 18% and therefore a minority. We are the 82% and therefore we will accept nothing less than our fair share of power and land, which is 82%.

What the world recognizes is that there is only one Cyprus state and only one Cyprus government and there is no kind of partnership with any Turks. If the Turks want to be partners in Cyprus then they should make the same with Turkey, making the Greek minority there their partners.

82% of north Cyprus belongs to us, and you are minority in that region of Cyprus like you are in every other. Your ethnic cleansing tactics will not work. You can't have a Turkish state on land that belongs by 82% to GCs and where GCs have a history 10 times longer than what you do.

If we were willing to make an exchange of land, that would mean a split of 82%-18%, not 29%-71%.
