Glafkos Klerides: Not to be missed

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Viewpoint » Fri Oct 31, 2008 7:25 pm

Unbelievable how we are still arguing getting nowhere fast, this problem cannot be solved, its impossible as one side views the other sides gain is their loss and vice versa, thats probably why we should just get on with our lives as we are and in 1000 years times everyone will be asking what was the all the conflict about.

1000 years? You are too optimistic. Maybe you can hope to die before we will get our land back, but I don't think you can hope the same thing for your children.

You can be hopeful but at this rate GCs will forget they ever had any connection with the north part of the island as there will be over a million Turks living here, 500.000 here so far.

Don't worry, we will never forget. And if you want bring 10 million uneducated Turks. It will only help to make your life harder until the liberation day comes. How else do you think they will help you?

Ill be long gone my friend and my children and their children would have probably married mainland Turks who are gradually moving here from all walks of life not just workers or uneducated people from Turkey, all you have to do is visit the offices and work places in the north to see they are not TCs any longer the new generations have no feelings or connection for GCs and the past.

Its funny how until last year your position was that there are no settlers in the north just temporary workers. It seems that you've now changed tack and nothing embarrasses you anymore, not even certain war crimes listed under the UN charter.

Im afraid I do not recall your claim but reality stares us all in the face we have accepted the trend for us to move closer to our Turkish roots and further away from our Cypriotness, this will continue as long as there is no solution and Turkey will be closer to you than ever before without any option to go back and build a united Cyprus as the people on the other side will no longer have anything in common with yourselves, imo you will be begging for partition as the alternative would be a unitary state with 2 3 4 th generation Turks.

We were never presented with any solution.

The problem for Cyprus is that foreigners invade our island and impose their rule over us by force because they consider Cyprus to be strategically significant to them and because Cyprus is small and does not have the power to protect itself.

The solution could be only one: A free Cyprus where Cypriots are allowed to rule their own island in a democratic way without any foreign involvement.

A solution was never offered. What was offered were just different kind of arrangements that would maintain the control of some foreigners over our island, and deny to us our freedom and self-determination.

What was offered and still on table is the surrenter treaty. Surrenter to the invasion army which won the war.Personally i can not see any way an invasion army which occupying an area can sign a "FAIR" agreement. The only way ,maybe, is the geopolitical circustances make it very costly for the invasion army to keep the occupated area.
