You will agree though that flying out from Ercan/Tymbou is NOT illegal.

If the port itself is illegal, how can its use be legal? Another oxymoron? :?

Get Real,
Why don't you ask this question of the Republic of Cyprus authorities who are complicit in - and often encourage - use of so-called 'illegal' ports ? I'd be intrigued by their reply.

why? what would u do in my place? and what is the worst that can happen?

Trust me... fly to Greece and then to Turkey.

Be a smart arse and you could end up ruining a couple of your weeks.

     ..

Get Real! You are killing me man! Look at what you have actually written. The person has only two days to spend in Istanbul and you are saying "be a smart arse... fly to Greece and then to Turkey", erm... also the same root back I guess???

"Smart arse" - MY ARSE! It sounds ,more like a moronic advise.

BTW, I was over the Greek side last week and was impressed, but what's with the sign posts in Nicosia? Unless you know where North and South is with a good sense of direction, there is no way you can find the border crossing points whilst driving a car. Is someone scared to make them too public??? :D

Murder is also illegal. It depends on how severe the crime is. Being traitor is worst then being murderer. Smoking in public place is a small offense and actually I think in Cyprus it is not even illegal yet!

Very original… grab two different parts of someone’s post and construct your own sentence! Never been done before…

Do you really think the roadblock is so important to Greek Cypriots that it deserves a signpost? :?

Get Real - let me make it straightforward for you : if the RoC and its various authorities regard the ports of the north as being illegal, then why do those very same authorities allow, encourage and are complicit with those who use those same ports ? Why don't you ask the RoC authorities to explain this apparent contradiction ? I'd be intrigued to know the response.

You'd first have to prove the "encourage and are complicit with" part before claiming to have an argument.

What do you mean prove it ? Today I crossed from north to south and south to north, my original port of entry being Ercan. At border control was I stopped, questioned or had my passport scrutinised by GC authorities ? No. Neither entering RoC nor leaving RoC. There were dozens of German tourists crossing at the same time as me today. Were they stopped etc by RoC immigration/border control ? No. There were several Russians. Were they stopped ? No.

So all these people who'd come through an 'illegal' port of entry - who on your account are therefore 'illegals' themselves - were admitted into RoC with not a care in the world by the RoC authorities. I had visitors from a non-EU state recently. They entered in Larnaca, came north, and left by Larnaca again. No problem. Vistors earlier in the year came in via Ercan, went south for a week, and left via Ercan. No problem. A number of people I know from non-EU countries have been told, when they've come in through Larnaca and wanted to go north, that next time they should just enter through the north ! When immigration/border control give that advice for them to travel via an 'illegal' port then I think that merits the description 'encouragement'.

This happens day in day out. The RoC authorities know about the thousands and thousands of enteries through 'illegal' ports but clearly do not act as if these travellers are 'illegal'. That means that the RoC is complicit.

There was no road blocks, but rather an open road with "passport control" cabins along the wide pavements on the side. Those GCs who want to cross probably already know where they are, maybe I was thinking selfishly as a TC! :D

That’s right… you’re the ones who come to work, shop, and have fun here. Our few pitiful gamblers know the route very well, but as for the rest of us we couldn’t care less about visiting at this point in time.
