1.5 cm of rain in Limassol

Postby Tim Drayton » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:31 pm

We have just had a very heavy rainstorm in Limassol. I measured the depth in the buckets I put out to collect the water, and saw that we had about 1.5 cm of rain in less than an hour.

Not bad considering the average rainfall for the whole of October in Limassol is 1.06 cm:

In Aglangia yesterday morning it was at least 3cm according to the increase of depth in my pool.

Lovely low rumbling thunder claps too - brilliant!

I hope everyone had their buckets out collecting the water!

The hills above us were shrouded in rain. A wonderful sight - at least, for Cyprus nowadays.

According to the BBC weather site, Nicosia should have rain over the next 4 days.

This translates as 15 liters/m2 per hour. Not so much compared to the rainfalls in continental Europe.

We know that. Cyprus is an arid country and has been exceptionally so for the past few years.
