The Real News From The Occupied North

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

They know our teachers don't work more than 24 hours a week, have about 5 months off, make a fortune from the private lessons that are necessary as they do bugger all teaching at school, and get a bloody great pension.

I am surprised that we don't have thousands of teachers from all over the world trying to get in here!

I feel compelled to take you up on this as my wife happens to be a state high school teacher.

I can assure you that it is VERY HARD work, many nights working right though the night till 10 or 11pm writing up tests, the lesson for the next day, marking tests/exams, having evening staff meetings, managing festivities, meeting and dealing with parents, etc, etc, etc. It just never ends.

On top of that teachers have to deal with daily ABUSE from students that range from insults to death threats and/or damage to their vehicle. Many teachers, my wife included, would’ve opted for an alternative career had they known what it’s really all about.

There are always exceptions, but of the teachers that I know, they are mainly as I described.

The abuse is a different matter and they should introduce the cane.

I've never heard of the actions of this brave, public spirited citizen. Any more information?

I've heard about him and seen his house on the news for a couple of years in succession; let's hope one of the TCs can shed some more light...

He doesn't turn it into a ROC flag shrine. He basically places on the outside wall of his house a huge flag of Cyprus, a flag of Greece, Turkey, the UK, the Commonwealth (new addittion this year) and the EU flag. All this in August with which he celebrates the "real" independence day of the Republic. (Despite the fact that the independence day was moved to October 1st in a unanimous cabinet decision (7GC's and 3TC's) in 1960.

now i am interested.
hubby was only just told this morning that if he were to fly his union flag on our land that he would be going to jail.
it seems like a few racists see it as breach of the peace!
just waiting for our lawyer to get into the office before flying it!

I drove round RoC Nicosia with a Union flag on the antenna of my car the last time the Queen visited.

Only did it for a laugh, but I have to say that I didn''t have any adverse reactions.

Perhaps appropriately, Kemal Hür's surname literally translates as "free".

You’d be at more risk driving around with an APOEL flag… which explains why DT always goes out dressed in Green.
