Korean Airlines KA007 unfortunately is one such sad reminder. A host of mistakes by the pilots brought it over Soviet airspace. The pilots did not even bother to communicate back to tower that they thought it was civilian, they shot it down anyway.

The ICAO Chicago Convention was amended in 1984 to specifically prohibit the use of force against civil aircraft (following the KAL 007 incident, which remains rather mysterious). So Oracle's nonsense about happily shooting down airliners that enter another's airspace remains just that : nonsense.

Is the Pope Catholic?

I might remind you of Pan Am Flight 103, over Lockerbie in 1988.

Shit happens when people don't follow ALL international rules eh?

Get Real,
In what way is PanAm 103 in any way connected with (a) violation of airspace or (b) shooting down of aircraft ? Answer : None.

I think you get my point CopperLine...

Btw, I could've sworn that was "proven" to have been shot down. No?

Sorry, you've lost me there Get Real What's your point again ? :?

PanAm 103/Lockerbie shot down ? No, not at all. The trial of the alleged bombers - under Scottish law, by English/Welsh prosecution, of Libyan suspects, conducted on Dutch territory - was the longest in Scottish legal history. The second appeal case is now being heard. Basically there has been a serious miscarriage of justice in imprisoning the alleged bombers - whose connection with the aircraft is extremely tenuous at best.
