How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Kurupetos,
I didn't know that about the constitution and flag flying. It really was a crap constitution wasn't it. A recipe for disaster.

That description could easily fit pretty much anything short of democracy.

Giant flags are not unique to TRNC, folks. Pakistan and Israel have made record-breaking national flags recently, as well as USA. A massive North Korean flag flys on the world's largest flagpole just north of the DMZ. So if having giant flags - either painted or in cloth - is a statement of insecurity, then it's not restricted to the TRNC...

FYI, Turkey holds the world record for the smallest national flag. It was done with a micro-laser. Would that make for a feeling of supreme security if big equals insecurity...?

FFYI, The RoCy flag is a great statement of neutrality, and I do like the Greek National flag design as well (though its hard to tell exactly what shade of blue is official...). Still, that article in the 1960 constitution about useage of the Turkish and Greek national flags was IMHO a mistake.

Fair enough.

Copperline, it's nice to have someone on this forum who can give very quick and straightforward answers... (I'm not being sarcastic, FYI)

The Greek flag should always be seen flying from the Church/Public Buildings along with this real cypriot flag!
