Anyway here are some more books that I think are worth reading in realtion to the CYprius problem. Many are one sided or personal experience based accounts but still of vlaue imo.

The Cyprus Tapes by David Matthews

The Death of Friendship by Turkan Aziz

The Cyprus Conflict by Zenon Stavrinides

30 Hot Days by M.A. Birand

Burdend with Cyprus by John Reddaway

The Genocide files by Harry Scott Gibbons

These can be hard to find but I would be more than happy to lend any of the above to any forum members I can senisbly get the books too and back from afterwards.

Erolz, welcome back from the army... I've been trying to get hold of 30 Hot Days for two years... any ideas where I might be able to source it from???

Well the only source I know of is Rustem Bookshop in north Nicosia (they are also the publishers I think). However if you like I will mail my copy to you (you are in Canada?) or get a copy and mail it too you. May take a while to get there but should be less than the 2 years you have laready waited. PM me if you are interested.

Hi Erolz, many thanks for the offer mate... I'm not in Canada, I'm in the UK but obviously my name is slightly misleading in that respect. Do you know where I can find the address for this bookshop as I'm going to be in Cyprus at some point over the summer and it would probably be easier to simply go there and see what they have available.

Since we're on the subject, do you know of any recent books that look at the TRNC political parties? I'm doing research at the moment and information is a little thin on the ground, which is good in one respect that I'm original in doing it, but also a little frustrating trying to get some information from afar.

I am not sure of the exact address but basically it is near to the Saray Hotel in north Nicosia (Lefkosa). Just ask anyone and they will point you to the saray, then ask for Rustem Bookshop and you should be ok. Not really sure about the later. Rustem would be as good a place to start such a search as anywhere, though I am not sure such an book exists (in english at least) but may be wrong.

If you do track rustem down and they do not have 30 hot days in stock and if I am in Cyprus (not here 8th Jue to 2nd July) I can lend you my copy.

We look forward to "Thrill's Thrilling Thrillers Book Review Thread"

Hostage to History is an interesting book to read, but try to find the holes in its case as well...

Found this thread late but would recommend that you add one of the most important and factual books ever written about Cyprus to your list.

Title.
CYPRUS REVOLT
Origins, development and aftermath of an international crisis.

Author.
Nancy Crawshaw.

Publisher.
Allen & Unwin 05th October 1978

ISBN 004940053

Hardcover 452 Pages.

Highly interesting read dealing with the period between 1954 and early 1960's. Nancy Crawshaw's well written easy journalistic style is critical of all sides involved in the events of that period. As a journalist working in Cyprus throughout the period she was a thorn in the side of the colonial administrators, the British Military, the irregular Cypriot fighters of both sides and the Governments of Britain, Greece, Turkey and the United States.

The book is expensive (approx GBP180) but may be available from lending libaries. If you read nothing else read this book as it debunks all the conspiricy theories and deals with ineptitude and the struggle for raw power both nationally and internationally with the Cold War as a back drop.

I have been looking for a copy of this book for as long as I have been studying the Cyrpus problem. Do you know of any libraries that have it? I had found some second hand book sellers that claim to have a copy but as you point out it is priced in the £100's and thats a bit out of my reach.

Hello Erol,
There are many Libraries in south Nicosia and I am sure most of them will have it. Most likely though it will be in the reference section and therefore you cannot borrow it for outside use. Probably only for a couple of hours in order to make copies if there isn’t a copy machine there, but that will require to live some kind of deposit with them. Try the Nicosia municipal Library next to Eleftherias square, or the University of Cyprus or any other major College in Nicosia, such as Intercollege or Cyprus college.
