Comrades no more?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Comrades no more?

Postby DT. » Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:27 am

Can any TC's explain to me why Talat does not want Christofias to call him a comrade anymore? Its really pissed the President off.

Is one of these 2 "commies" turning his back on his glorious revolutionary past?

First, very few communists were revolutionary. And I'm not aware that either Christofias or Talat were ever revolutionary communists. So there's nothing 'revolutionary' for them to turn their back on !

Second, I suspect that you're right that he's probably just pissed off that he's calling him 'comrade'. If you think about it, the Turkish military has spent most of the last fifty years trying to eliminate communists (largely successfully, unfortunately) so Talat would hardly want reminders that he would once have been a prime target of the Turkish military !

But this is sheer speculation on my part

Judging by the amount of trade union militancy that we have recently seen in the north of Cyprus, they may not have been that successful!

Why Christofias wants to call him like that? He is not Christofias comrade. He is the comrade of the Turkish army!

Do you see the Chinese army killing Turks to get land for us and themselves? If it was like that we would have the whole Turkey under occupation

Now there is an interesting thought. Do you think the influx of Chinese is a secret plot by Chrisofias to boost the National Guard with his Chinese comrades?

Or is he just increasing support for Omonia?

DT ,
have a look what the another comrade says :PRIME MINISTER CALLS ON CHRISTOFIAS TO FOCUS ON SOLUTION

ImagePrime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer has criticized the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias for making disturbing remarks about President Talat instead of focusing on a solution in Cyprus.

Stating that Mr. Christofias is adding artificial waves to the undulations of the Cyprus problem which has been continuing for years, Mr. Soyer called on him to focus on the negotiations process as soon as possible.

‘The Greek Cypriot Leader has attached too much importance about a comment made by a high level official on the word ‘comrade’, I invite him to get away from this surfing tactic. Because he is in a state of slavery due to the policies of the coalition partners which focused on the non-solution of the problem’ Mr. Soyer said.

He also added that Mr. Christofias should stand against his coalition partner which offered the armament if he really is sensitive on the concept of ‘comrade’.

‘I want to remind Mr Christofias that his effort to please the Greek Cypriot nationalists is poisoning the solution. Its antidote is the initiative that will be taken towards finding a settlement in Cyprus in line with the vision agreed by the two leaders on the 23rd of May and 1st of July and on the basis of the friendship of the two peoples as well as UN parameters.

The gentlemen you quote..which by the way is not a PM of anything has not answered the question I posed. What is talat's problem if Chirstofias called him a comrade? I've heard talat calling President christofias a comrade before.

Call me a cynical if you so wish, but I very happily noted the smack on Christofias face by Mehmet Ali Talat. I wonder on what platform Christofias was addressing a fervent Kemalist (i.e. a perverted Turkish nationalist) as “comrade.” I wonder what commonality there might exist between Kemalism (a perverted “one Turk equals the whole world” quasi-fascist ideology,) whose “sacramental wines” Talat has been well impregnated with; and socialism, internationalism or even communism for this matter.

I hope soon Christofias will get another well deserved smack on his face by Talat, for daring to call him a friend. I wonder what kind of friendship there can ever possibly exist between a Greek Cypriot, and someone aspiring and claiming the right to usurp and eradicate his human, cultural and heritage rights from 1/3 of his 4,000 years old ancestral homeland; in order to establish his own solely Turkish ownership territory and state, in the name and glory of the Turkish “nation.” I wonder what kind of friendship there can possibly exist between a Greek Cypriot, and someone that covets and designs his country’s independence and sovereignty; and aims at its subjugation to the permanent suzerainty of the invader and occupier of his country, and the violator of his human rights.

Go ahead Mehmet Ali Talat, help Christofias wake up from his dreams and the deep sleep he is going through.
