We are an independant country who happens to take our defence very seriously. We spend Billions on state of art weapons and can give anyone a bloody good run, including Turkey. And yet we are only 50,000, less than the CNG when it is fully mobilised.

In fact the TAF is no match for the RAAF!

I had spent my entire time on the Green Line (mostly SOPAZ) at the worst period… 1983..86 when skirmishes and other misunderstandings kept breaking out. I captured two Turks and a TC shepherd spy but never got nothing for it or expected anything and I certainly don’t consider myself a “hero” by any measure.

I just remembered arresting a couple of British tourists taking photos of our camps and I confiscated their film... that was a laugh for us but they shat themselves.

I really can't get excited over military hardware the National Guard does not posses because when push goes to shove we can only use what’s in OUR inventory against the enemy, and there are no fighter jets I’m afraid.

Yes, that is true.

But it does serve to highlight a very valuable point to the defeatists.

It does not matter how small you are, it is possible to militiarily defeat a much larger power provided you have the right equipment and technology. This does not have to be jet fighters, but could be the most advanced S2A Russian or French Air Defence Systems.

Cyprus does not need jet fighters as you well know. It is overkill when your purpose is to defend yourself or liberate 3,000 square kms of territory.
