You can buy a 150k SL 280 for 5.995 GBP, L to P reg. with worn soft hood, noisy valve guides, in need of a respray, then you pay a container of pounds for freight, excise duty and registration and a 15 full days of paperwork. After all, you have a copy of an R129 SL, your friends more happy than you and your wallet free with at least 5000 GBP after purchase. Forgot to mention of course, that if you are willing to bring any Merc of that era to this CE condition you have to sacrifice another 1000-1500 for TLC. You should stop reading Classic Cars magazines because obviously your knowledge about cars is as much as a hairdresser's.
