EU COMMISSION FUNDS THE WORKS PROJECT TO REPLACE WATER PIPES IN NORTH CYPRUS
The European Commission has announced that it is re-launching the work for replacement of water pipes and domestic water meters in North Cyprus.
This is the first ‘work project’ to be funded under the EU Financial Assistance Regulation for Turkish Cypriots.
The project envisages the replacement of 83 kilometres of water pipes and 3800 domestic water meters under EU standards.
Existing water pipes are mainly made from asbestos cement- which is said to be dangerous for health.
The bid is open for EU companies as well as for those from candidate countries.
The deadline for the bid is 1st December 2008.
All necessary information for tenderers are available on the Europe Aid website; (http://ec.europa.eu/europeaid/cgi/frame12.pl).
