Wars are fought on a number of fronts. The political front is important, but this 'war' will continue as long as mistrust and antagonism exists on all sides. There is no shortage of that, I'm afraid...
The 'war', as you so quaintly put it, will only end once the partition is recognized as the only proper solution. Any other solution is going to end in more of what happened between 1963 and 1974.
