Nikiforos is cancelled

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Two days without their mummy's doing their washing for them or having to go without take-aways and they will all wave the white flag.

What makes you think Turkish or TC mums don't do their son’s washing or take them take-aways to eat?

The difference in morale between an army fighting for its homeland and a foreign army fighting because of orders is huge.

DT,

I agree with you on the morale argument, that is why they did as well as they did last time, but anything more than a few days and we are tottally screwed anyway.

If it lasts more than 2-3 days its plan B. We head for the hills and re-dig those old EOKA caves up.

Like the billions of pounds they saved in 1974?

once again christofias has put talat in a position where he can demonstrate an ability to reciprocate.

if he does not, it becomes clearer that he is not the representative of Turkish Cypriots, but of Turkey.
if he does it shows that there is hope, both as Cypriots, can work toward a negociated settlement, as equals.

as for weakening the abilities of the armed forces of the RoC, it is doubtful. this is not a permanent decision, and next year is another issue.

The purpose of the NG is not to defeat Turkey, but to make any Turkish plans of attacking Cyprus too costly and therefore not worth-while. In fact, considering the size of the enemy, Cyprus gets away with it cheap. Imagine, for example, having to maintain your own air force instead of relying on the HAF

this is just the point to make it just costly and suceeding some days of defence. But if , even the available personell/arms, are not tried in exercises we would face the same joke of National Guard , acting in 1974.

A brilliant tactical move by Christofias...Yes,lets see if Talat can make the Turkish Army cancel their wargames as well...Because if he can't and they don't,we can all stop hoping for any kind of peaceful solution in our lifetime... :( :(
