How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Get Real! » Sat Oct 11, 2008 12:24 am

VP, You have no idea how the RoC works today… we have COMPLETE FOREIGNERS, asylum seekers, we PAY MONEY to and provide housing for, etc, because the EU says so!

50 years ago these foreigners would’ve probably been hang by their balls by EOKA!

That how far we’ve come…

I believe the Turkish speaking Cypriot community have to accept themselves as minorities.

If democracy is ever given a chance for the whole of Cyprus, “minorities”/”majorities” will eventually fade into obscurity as there will be one set of rules for all (rights & obligations) so you can’t go wrong.

and the 80% 0 GCs will rule supreme as a GC state with us as just other minorities at the hands of GCs.

Everyone will be too busy with education, employment, housing, healthcare, sports, etc, to worry about communities. It’s all this “community” shit that’s ruined Cyprus.

So when the GCs take power and control the whole island passing laws that effect TCs more negatively than GCs who will be running around fighting for their rights? Who will step in when GCs the majority do not employ my child not becuase they are not educated or unable to work in the local government poisitons but becuase they are TCs? GCs are experts at making excuses and wriggling out of responsiblity, manipulating laws and wordings to suit whom they want. These are genuine fears and not a future I want for my children.

How can you pass a specific law solely for a group of citizens based on ethnic background under an EU democracy? Impossible!

An EU democracy LOCKS YOU into uniformity and that's what I love about it.

There are plenty of ways around it, you are a GC try thinking of a few especially with regards to our relationship with Turkey and local discrimination...shouldnt be hard for you.

I don’t want to think that way under a democracy and ruin things. Don’t underestimate 100’s of thousands of modern and educated Greek Cypriots who will NO LONGER TOLERATE undemocratic stupidities that happened in the past for anyone.

GR I really want to believe you but am very apprehensive due to the past so asking for safeguards which you say are unnecessary because "100’s of thousands of modern and educated Greek Cypriots who will NO LONGER TOLERATE undemocratic stupidities that happened in the past for anyone" should not be a problem as they would be redundant as you are sure that GCs would not tolerate the discriminative actions they performed in the past. So your constant objections makes us very suspicious and there demand even more safeguards which you have problems understanding.

turk, greek can not do anything against divide n rule policy

May be not but Cypriots can ............ ooooopppppppppssssssss ..... how foolish of me to think there's such thing. Apparently there's greeks and turks on the island no such thing as Cypriots.

May b one day when the people wake up we can tell them all piss off. Including the colonialist Britons who still violate Cypriot territory.
