The Old Turkic script (also Göktürk script, Orkhon script, Orkhon-Yenisey script; Turkish: Orhun Yazıtları, 鄂爾渾文字) is the alphabet used by the Göktürk from the 8th century to record the Old Turkic language.

Thank you very much to all of you!!

I ll try to reply to all of your questions and comments, I hope I did not forget anyone of you:

- I'm a student of International Information Management with the focus on Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Communication so that's why I am interested to find out more about the intercommunal interaction as well, if there is any at all
(and I'm sure I do not work for CIA or anything like that  )

- the exact topic of my thesis is (translated from German): The status of Greek, Turkish and English - Language Use in Cyprus

- I will post the results of my survey here in the forum if you like, but you wil have to be patient until November/December :-)

- about the problem with the chinese-english-version: if you cannot read the texts you probably have to change your language settings. I hope that it will work then, it would be too bad if people can participate just because of the language settings!
I do have a pdf Version of each language as well, if you are interested.

And thanks to everyone who posted links about local languages and dialect!!

Thank you to all of you who have filled in my survey so far!!!

I ve checked the coding problem again and found out that you only saw the "strange-Chinese-version" because of the coding of my survey.
The code I used is ISO 8859-1

Please try this when clicking on the buttons:
click:
-> View -> Encoding
and choose ISO and if this does not work choose UNICODE

I hope this will work ?!

Ariane - one other thing that might (or might not!) be of interest to you is the close-to-extinction use of Cypriot Maronite Arabic. If you have facebook, check:-

Ariane wrote:Hi everybody!

I am currently writing my master thesis about the languages of Cyprus and I ve set up a survey of 25 questions to find out more about the language use and language contact in Cyprus.
The survey is available in English, Greek and Turkish and it will take you just 10 min to fill it in.
Everyone who is living in Cyprus can participate!!

So please, help me by filling in my survey because I need as many responses as possible!

Here is the link: http://www.cyprus-questionnaire.de

Thank you so much!

My dear, despite the fact i participated in your sourch, i can tell you that if Cypriots (all of them) discover and speak clearly -each one - the language of each origin- the Cyprus problem is solved!!! The international community , trying o solve this propblem must take into account that the initial citizens of Cyprus (The Indians of the Island) were GREEKS.All others are either shelters or occupators. Lets international community tries , at least once, to be fair with the history and political situation in a country-Lets ask in community to make a try-only once- to establish int law in an area. lets seee how it works-maybe it would be proved better than the present practice!!!

No sooner do we get rid of one uneducated goofball that another one comes along!

Were the people of Choirokitia or Sotira Greeks?
