you may have problems at the customs on arrival in the north with goods in your car. then again at the border crossing to the south.
shipping your car is the best way.
try george baker shipping based at harwich/felixstowe they are reliable and cheap.

we shipped our car and shipped it back again after customs demanded CY£17.500 for import duties!!!It was 12 years old and worth in £sterling around £3000.
Buy one in Cyprus it is much less hassle. It cost us £4500 to ship in container and back again so more than the car was worth but could not sell it here either,so no choice.

You were done up like a kipper!!!!!

I brought 2 cars over 3 years ago in 2 containers which were also stuffed with furniture and other personal effects, total cost about 1600 Sterling.

Paid no import duty just registration fees as they came from the UK where duty had been paid. Registration fees were CYP550 for 2 Litre Honda Accord (2 years old) and CYP70 ish for 6 year old Renault Megane 1.4 Litre.

OK, I made a few visits to the customs to sort it out, but providing you are relaxed about the thing, they are very helpful. They want lots of paperwork, but so what!

CBBB your right, she was done up like a kipper. I don't know how she was charged £4,500 GBP (2,250 each way) when an average family car like a Ford Focus only costs about £500 to ship from Southampton to Limassol. :?
Maybe she was shipping a Rolls Royce or a Bentley
