'OMO' reminds me of something I was told about - a practice in the UK in the 1950s - when few people had telephones in their homes and there were no mobiles.

There was a washing powder called: 'OMO'. For those not familiar with English slang, my 'Old Man' is a reference to a husband.

When young, married, ladies wished to tell their ardent lovers that the coast was clear and that their husband was not at home, they would put the OMO box in the window, signifying 'Old Man Out'.
