Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot trade unions DEV-IS and PEO have jointly organized a bi-communal concert for this evening.
The concert is in memory of CMC Mine Strikes that were staged in 1948.
The bi-communal concert will take place at the Gazimagusa(Famagusta) Venetian Palace at 7.30 pm.
Making a statement on the joint organization, DEV-IS President Mehmet Seyis said the mine strikes were in reaction to low salaries and bad working conditions present at the American mine company.
He said, the joint action of 700 Turkish Cypriots and 1300 Greek Cypriots which lasted for 4 months and 4 days, was a move which resulted in big gains for the Cypriot working class.
