And I hope they will use their common sense and fly in via legalised airports otheriwse they can go F themselves. I hope the RoC tells them this in the event that they enter the RoC via illegal ports.

Halil, please convey this info to them as we do not want an embarassing situation whereby the RoC government refuses to talk to them because of their illegal actions.

Thanks, do you think you can manage that Halil without putting a shit spin on it??

In any case why are they visiting an unrecognise pseudo state in the first place. How much are you paying???????

It's the UN heavy mob coming to "persuade" President Christofias that the UN is still more important than the EU in kicking out the Turks ....

.... the last thing they want after stringing us along for 34 years is for the CoE to swiftly finish them off for us!

Peanuts anyone?

The information i got was as follows (date was 3/10/2008)

The Elders to visit Cyprus to support peace process
Three members of The Elders will visit Cyprus in early October to lend their support to the

leaders of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, and to commend Mr Demetris

Christofias and Mr Mehmet Ali Talat for their efforts to reunify the island.

The Elders urge the international community to embrace the fact that a lasting settlement is within reach, and to actively support the leaders and the peace process.

Elders Chairman Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former

Algerian Foreign Minister Lakhdar Brahimi will travel together to Nicosia on 8-9 October for

meetings with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders.

“After decades of division, this is a time of hope for the people of this beautiful island. These

opportunities don`t come around very often,” said Archbishop Tutu.

“The Elders will not be involved in the negotiations themselves; that is for the Cypriots to do,” he said. “However, we will do what we can to ensure that the foresight and courage of Mr. Talat and Mr Christofias are acknowledged and supported in Cyprus, in the region and around the world. We also hope to meet political and civil society representatives from both

communities, as well as the UN officials facilitating and assisting the process.”

The Elders, formed in 2007 by Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel, are a group of globally

respected leaders who offer their collective experience and independent voices to support

innovative and cooperative approaches to addressing the global

The Elders delegation consisting of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former US President Jimmy Carter and former Algerian Foreign Minister Lakhdar Brahimi have expressed full support to the Cyprus peace process.

The men who came to Cyprus today gave a short press release at the UNDP-ACT office at the UN controlled buffer zone.

Speaking here Archbishop Desmond Tutu referred to the struggle he waged against apartheid and violence in South Africa, and noted that now democracy has been achieved in the country.

So bearing that mind, he said a solution is possible in Cyprus.

Next to take the microphone was former US president Jimmy Carter.

He said it is not up to the outsiders to decide on the solution of the Cyprus problem but to the Cypriots themselves.

He also reminded that the international community fully supports a solution being found to the Cyprus problem.

Last but not least former Algerian Foreign Minister Lakhdar Ibrahimi said that the leaders in Cyprus have taken a major responsibility by restarting the negotiations process and this of course both excites and pleases the Elders.

He said that during their contacts in Cyprus they will meet with representatives of both sides of the island and will pass on the message they receive to the world.

Right after the press release, the Elders delegation then came together with both Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot youth.

Then they moved on to the routine meeting of Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot Political Parties organized by the Slovakian Embassy at the Ledra Palace Hotel.

Tomorrow morning, the Elders delegation will meet with President Mehmet Ali Talat.

The group also plans to come together with the UN Special Advisor for Cyprus Alexander Downer and the UN Special Representative to Cyprus Taye-Brook Zerihoun.

The aim of the Elders is to lend their support and encouragement to those working towards ending the island’s decades of division.

The Elders who commended the efforts of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders also emphasized that they will not be involved in the current negotiations.
