I've done the driving trip to and from Cyprus, arriving into and departing from Kyrenia, if that's any help...
Yes, indeed, this is a lot of help! I'm still not sure whether to just sell the car in Cyprus (yes, it will be a one-way trip to England) and fly. Anyone interested in a Carbon Grey Metallic Mazda 3 (1.6), bought new in Cyprus in Feb.2006, regularly serviced, regular oil changes, very good condition, aircon, electric windows/mirrors, CD/RDS 4-speaker radio, available some time around December/January?
I think our dog will be much happier cooped up in the car (she loves it!) for a few days than cooped up in a dog crate in a plane. Although she's pretty accepting of most things and I think she'd manage ok on a plane, even the inevitable being thrown around by baggage handlers etc. I'll have to look into the dog-on-a-ferry thing (giant litter-tray?? Hold the dog over the side of the ship and crap in the sea??
); a ferry into Hull would be ideal for me, but I might end up doing the Eurotunnel with the dog and us in the car (assuming it's not on fire again).
Thank you all for your advice!
By the way, I only put "South Cyprus" so as not to confuse it with the "Turkish-Occupied" (or whatever description you favour) bit of this island. Not that it should cause any offence - I don't mind people describing the bit of England below the Watford Gap Services as the South of England, or indeed that area of Arctic tundra
ABOVE the Watford Gap Services as The North. They're just points on a compass.
