..yesterday the Russsian Stock Market dropped 20%! Now, we do not have 20% less oil/wheat/manpower than yesterday, do we?

My real question is, given that the world's natural resources have not changed significantly in the last six months or so, how is it we are all so much poorer - I dont mean in our paypacket, I mean in our pensions, investments etc.

I am very fortunate, my assets are in cash and property (all cash and no property hopefully from Friday!) but many people have been hit hard; lost their investments/jobs etc.

The Russian stock market is another problem all together. Mr Putin needs to understand that you can't hide from the worlds problems by closing the stock exchange down for a couple of days.

Blame the Black Hole created by the Swiss ... it is sucking up all the savings in our banks and turning them into anti-matter

Curious coincidence, isn't it? The switching on of CERN and the world markets going into freefall. Or is it a coincidence?

Consider a country’s superannuation fund being partly invested in one of these American financial giants that recently went bust, and then multiply that by a few dozen countries from around the world that had also invested their super there and you start to get a small idea of how other countries are affected. Incidentally, I read that the Bank of Cyprus lost around 600m in investments which they claim will be met by other returns.
