Turkish blood does not flow in veins (or arteries) ... it diffuses between cells. Seeps and flows like slime.

didn'thave to do with turks because, until recently, they were scattered across the whole island.

paphites are, as you say bumpkins, because they are (were) so poor.

famagusta was refined, a centre that was cosmopolitain, and a beach which had no comparison.

nicosia was a snobs town with all it's civil servants.

larnaca i don't know about, except it was "our" riviera, with a beach of round rocks.

but limasol is/was filled with lowlifes and crimainals because of its ports.

...i wonder, coming from the karpas, people from paphos, if the north seemed so far away, as the south seemed to us.
