Then there was the accusation that Morphou people spoke with a drawn out effeminate accent, that Limassolians were gangsgters (even in the 50s the town had a rep for lawlessness, Lefkosiates were toffee nosed, Paphites uncouth, and generally a lot of snobbishness was shown towards men who clung to the traditional dress, the vraka and the snake boots.
For a small place the island harbored a lot of prejudices.
