Richard hi and thank you ....... We have Brit in our family and our lunch time chats are interesting to say the least. he of course in his typically politely english way, although agrees with much of what I have to say as he lived in Cyprus since the late 60's he does challenge my outbutrsts and puts me in my place if I may say so. I love him for it ;) kinda gives me licence to bitch about the Brits.

How on earth can anyone be critical of Cypriots who emigrated to the UK in the 40s 50s and 60s I will never understand.
As one who left Cyprus in 1961 at the age of 15 in search of , not only a better life but also in the knowledge that unlike the Limassol Lanition Gymnasium that levied rather high charges , ( I did 3 years ) the UK was , at that time , providing free education.
I arrived in the UK on my own and was extremely lucky to find accommodation and work at a small hotel in Victoria named Apollo Hotel !!! Started work the following morning , the system allowed me and presented me with an opportunity not only to attend school and learn English but also provided me with free health service and above all
the opportunity to progress further. Yes I'm grateful to this country , yes I have managed to integrate while retaining my roots and respecting the culture of this Great nation that attracts millions of immigrants from every part of the globe , and they are not attracted to the UK by the weather !
The UK Cypriot community is well respected for its industriousness , its family values and its ability to blend in and be an asset to this country.
It is true that the vast majority of Cypriots were from villages , the poor the hungry for a better life but they have bloody well done well for themselves . They have stood shoulder to shoulder with their Cypriot compatriots and carried the torch for Cyprus here in the UK.
For a pompous arsehole to come on and make derogatory statements damning the UK Cypriots , as he has done before , its a f..ng disgrace , his inflated ego and thirst for adulating comments from equally minded half wits has clouded his vision , but let all know that We the UK Cypriots are grateful to have had the opportunity to provide our selves , our families and the CYPRUS ECONOMY with benefits derived from the UK.

Please, please bash away. Get it of your chest, I for one am very interested to hear all the negative. A few more comments from others may be interesting, go on we are all friends on CF and we rarely take offence.

In the other place which we don't mention, most of those who have posted on this thread would be on the way out!
The Paphos bunch seem to be having a witch hunt at the moment to weed out all those that disagree with the philosophy of the admin.

She is fair and I must say very impartial, lol.
As for our other friends CBB, I remember the immortal words of their great leader "it is my forum, you do as I say and if you don't like it f... o.."

I'm English (not Jock, Taffy or Paddy) and returned from Cyprus yesterday, I think I might start to Brit Bash... While there I came across British pensioners complaining about the cost of living and how it was so much better in 19 umpteen in the UK and how they don't like Cypriot food, if they don't like it in Cyprus then why don't they phuck off back to the UK :x

The whining Brits deserve a good bashing from anyone on this forum and if they don't like it they should use the Easterncyprus Forum where they talk about the ever increasing prices, central heating, baking cakes, the UK weather and swimming pools.

Brits moving to Cyprus should not expect it to be the same as the UK, they should respect the Cypriot culture and learn to live with it. :!:
