Lets not forget without us Cyprus would be a poorer place to live the Brits bring so much to the island through tourism and new settlers, so come on now lets have no more of the bitter and twisted jibes. And you know deep down that you really love us.

A question for "Lucky Jim"
Outside of this forum and assuming that you are British, has a real live Cypriot ever shown any bitterness towards you or any other Britons that you know of based purely on nationality, if so under what circumstances and where?

It's not a trick question, I'm just interested as with almost forty years of on/off living in Cyprus I've never had the misfortune to encounter anything other than mostly patience and kindness, this includes the time when the people of Cyprus were at their lowest point in the short history of the Republic. Yes, I've had problems with Cypriots but these problems were also suffered equally if not more so by my former Cypriot neighbours.

Personally I dont mind a bit of 'Brit Baiting' on the forum, it's good for the soul and helps stimulate the brain cells as some of the comments made are justifiable which leads me to try and find out more, while others perhaps are not.
I'm generally comfortable in the company of Cypriots, which is fortunate as there is probably not another Briton within twenty kilometers of my home and I'm married to a Cypriot who as a child in the 50's lived through the horrors of killings, counter killings, curfews, riots, beatings, house to house searches and seeing her own WW2 disabled former British Army Officer father carted off along with her elder brothers for 'interrogation' by our military. Intellegent and as beautiful as when I first met her she is and always has been without rancour.

The Cypriots on the whole are a fair minded people, after all who else in the world would pay the old enemy to come up with a fitting tribute to one of their greatest heroes

Enjoy Cyprus as I do Lucky Jim :D

That's a very good post rotate and I am sure your wife is very lucky to have you ... despite your ethnic handicap

When I first joined the forum I was horrified at how much unchallenged anti-Cypriot posts and threads were rolling around here.

Subconsciously I aimed to counter as many as I could, with similar Brit offerings ... not to bash the Brits, but to make them realise we are all the same. Many others did much the same too.

The last few months have seen a noticeable improvement in that department, and consequently, there have been very few real anti-Brit posts. Indeed when I asked Lucky Jim for specific anti-Brit posts .... he was unable to come up with any.

So Lucky Jim has miss-timed his gripe .... it now seems dated and unwarranted.

I think Lucky Jim needs to change his name to Unlucky Dickhead and post something else that we can all get stuck in to

When you've had 1/2 a bottle of spiced rum you do tend to agree with everyone.

And a couple of my mates once told me the moors were a nice place

Be still small voice of frenzy, Big Britain, Yorkshire and it's puddings are a long ways away in time and distance 8)

Of course I'm still on the subject, and why not :P

And in any case if people (any sort) dont like the answer then it's better not to ask the question
