I thought 'Honeydew' was a different variety. Honeydew can be purchased for up to £1.50.

Have not followed the minutiae of this thread but have the gist ...
Yes GCs call a variety of melon "Ananas" .... (same as pineapple, [French too] ) and it is very expensive and very pungent and as sweet as honey ... and is elongated in shape so not like cantaloupe which is round and pert (bit like you-know-what ) ....

At last, someone on the same wavelength as I. Expensive but what the hell, there is no better. So GCs call it Ananas too.
