Looks like this, but oval in shape. Not round, skin colour can be more vivid yellow, turning orange.

Deniz, this is what I was eating in May and I was told it was honey melon. It is gorgeous.

I couldnt find the Cyprus Ananas melon. I will have to make a trip to a Cypriot shop and photograph one.

It's a Rock melon or canteloupe, member of the squash family. The best of melons, full of vitamin C.

Deniz, it might be best if we take this thread and make it a new one so more people can comment, Let's face it "Lucky Jim" doesn't have a phucking clue what we are going on about!

I have answered the question, what more do you want. By the way a honey dew is yellow and is shaped like a rugby ball.

Lucky Jim, you might do well if you re register under a different name and start again. You have not got off to the best of starts under "Lucky Jim". I would say that you have been Unlucky rather than Lucky!!

I thought 'Honeydew' was a different variety. Honeydew can be purchased for up to £1.50.

The Ananas I am talking about is much more expensive. yes it is Rugby ball shaped, but am not sure we are discussing the same melon.

Have not followed the minutiae of this thread but have the gist ...

Yes GCs call a variety of melon "Ananas" .... (same as pineapple, [French too] ) and it is very expensive and very pungent and as sweet as honey ... and is elongated in shape so not like cantaloupe which is round and pert (bit like you-know-what 8) ) ....
