Copper lined cauldrons and earthenware pithari were being thrown out along with what now are considered to be other highly prized (and priced) collectables in the early 1970's

I KNOW THIS! :bawling:

OK, OK! calm down everything will be alright again in a little while :?

What type/size of big pot are you after as I know a man who might be able to help 8)

It's ok mate, wouldn't want to pay all that money for something that I'm going to leave outside in the open... :?

Plus I have my eyes on an antique French clock for which been saving up for months and months and months (and months...). Not going to give up till I have that sitting in my house!!!

Thank you for the clarification Kafene. Now I know what we are talking about and why they stole it, copper has shot up in price.

But so much fuss over a copper Dutch Oven! Get a real Pithari instead of the cauldron, will look much better in the garden and no one would steal it. Clay has no scrap value.

There must be an international black market for copper. I live in the Boston area, and recently, two men were arrested on charges that they systematically stole copper tubing from unoccupied homes in newly constructed developments. Even more recently, a man managed to electrocute himself to death in the process of stealing copper from an electrical concern.
