Yak ... In 1974 Turkey invaded Cyprus. Amongst the thousands of casualties the Turkish troops took away many civilians and some military age men never to be seen again ... These make up the people still missing ...

Oh Oracle. Your own government has tried to deceive you. Yes the Greeks did suffer as did the Turks. Greeks were killing Greeks during the coup. Why don't you mention or acknowledge this fact. Watch 'Attillas 74' where Greeks loyal to Markarios were imprisoned or worse by Greek officers who done a runner once the Turkish army turned up. The fact is certain sections of the political establishment in Cyprus will never face up to this.

Oracles my dear as you have gathered from my previous post I feel strongly about thi matter because my grandmother went to her grave not knowing what happened to her 17 year old son, whom the Turks killled.

But I tell you what it is kind therapeutic having a go at the Turk.

Sweetie I really feel for you and the thousands of us all on our tiny Island overrun by the blood-thirsty expansionist Huns.

21st Century hey?

Why are we still suffering at the hands of barbarians?

An international forensics team carries out the actual search for the approximately 1,500 Greek Cypriots and 500 Turkish Cypriots who are listed as missing. To date, the exhumation and identification program has unearthed the remains of 379 missing people. The disappearances began in 1964 at the onset of intercommunal violence. They culminated in 1974 when Turkey invaded the Republic of Cyprus in response to a failed coup by supporters of union with Greece. Many died in battle; others were victims of revenge killings, buried in unmarked graves .
