Warior the division and divide ....... eneded the day the check points had opened.

At the realisation of old fart Denktas that he fucked his people over well and truly . 34 years of prison because he wanted to be a ruler. An egotistical move by a powerful individual to subject his people to a prison under Turkish guard.

There is something to be said about sociology, psychology and Antrhopology the minute you astrt unpacking the world becomes clearer.

I agree, but the GCs have proven us right in that the chasm is to wide and that we lack common ground to unify. This is not the end of the world life goes on and the division has proven sucessful as both sides live peacefully with it borders just like any other 2 neighbouring countries. Dont try to put my future generations in danger by forcing them to live in a GC state run by GCs for GCs.

No the "division" has not been successful and no one is living in peace ... only living in a ceasefire pending a solution.

There is nothing more, that a thief like you, would want than to be left to enjoy his stolen goods ... but that is not going to happen.

The RoC is a majority GC country and has always been, despite continual cleansing from the Otto-Turks. If you have a problem accepting us, I suggest you find your own rightful solution and not expect to get away with criminal behaviour against us any longer.

The division suits us down to the ground (no pun intended) when you consider our dark history living with you. You guys can live in a cease fire situation all you want but for us we prefer to live in peace in the TRNC and theirs nothing you can do about it unless we agree.

VP, for once I can agree with you. GC's like TC's have serious problems over their own identity, and they fear change. I would not want to live in a State that is GC or TC exclusively either. Fortunately, I am not a GC or a TC, I am Cypriot. Thus, I support a strong State that has no racial bias, and i look forward to it securing our rights as Persons in a Bicommunal society where these rights, outside my Individual Rights, are expressed through the (two or more) National Assemblies GC's and TC's need to sustain themselves.

Do you understand why we feel this newly found "Cypriotism" peddled by GCs is a risk and just another name for osmosis, that's why we are unable to accept what you say. You are trying to get to last stage when we have not yet taken the first steps towards trusting each other, Cypriotism will only developed over time it cannot be forced.

VP the division may suit you and your family fine. However, there are a lot of other TC's who do not agree with you on many levels.

Firstly there are those TC's who under the regime Denktas and Turkey have created suffer the daily economic struggles hence they seek to the RoC for employment. Someone who is living a good life does not look to the enemy for daily survival.

Secondly there is the TC who just wants to live in their country free to enjoy what it can offer, without having to be told by a settler how he/ she ought to live.

Lastly and more respected by me (and that should not make a diference) is the Cypriot who believes that Cyprus is for Cypriots and their friends, as much as you hate to see this. There are TC's who hold that very view and some of them are on this forum and some live in Kyrenia, Morphou, Karpaz and Lefkosia, Larnaca and Lemesos.

So if you stop for a minute and look deeply you will see that VP's family is doing okay and the division suits them to a tea, but may be the neighbours or those down the road may be struggling at the imprisonment of the ideology of an od fool, who had some backing from Ankara.

Where are these people? why aren't they on the streets protesting? that happened pre referendum but you slapped these people in the face, there is noway they will go out on a limb for unification only to have it thrown in their faces a second time. Any deal has to incorporate their concerns and if it doesn't then we slap you guys in the face this time around.

There are people on uneven economic levels in all countries that's how it works, even in the "ho so perfect" GC south there are rich and poor GCs and you are in the EU, the current TRNC with all it imperfections is much preferred to living in a GC state run by GCs, why do you have problems understanding this?

Any deal has to be a partnership of the north and south, allowing everyone the choice of where they wish to reside and where one state cannot eliminate the others authority.

That Cypriotism has ALWAYS existed is common sense and not some newfound theory, but that the "Turkish Cypriot" people belong to it is another story...
