It doesn't seem to have made much of an impact as I heard nothing on the news (Greek) last night and there was nothing in the Cyprus Mail this morning.

SO WHERE WERE ALL THESE ANIMAL LOVERS?

Well this is precisely why I am so concerned about the British turning this into an anti-Cypriot bash, politicising the whole lobby. When the animals should come first, and not their self-righteous "We are here as colonialists to teach the natives how to behave". No one will rally round such a sentiment.

In the UK there are demonstrations against fox hunting, badger culling, vivisection, pet cruelty etc but none of them make out it is exclusive to English people ... so why do these retired do-gooders think it is more important to bash the Cypriots and bash the RoC?... instead of concentrating on helping the poor animals.

Also, by accepting there is a sub-element of Humans who are still aggressive (who cannot communicate effectively verbally, but resort to physical aggression) ... and they occur in equal numbers in every nation you analyse ... then the problem is pinpointed and action can be directed to the root cause (which is present in Humankind ... or not so kind!)...

Obviously a lot of domestic issues need to be addressed also, such as funding and welfare officers ... but these can only be achieved if the "racist" insinuations are removed.

So a final appeal to all those Brits ... think about the animals, accept it happens everywhere and let us tap into the existing organisations which can really make a difference ... PETA, WWF etc.

And yet it takes the Brits to wake this so called civilised "RoC" up so it actually does something...Bloody farmers in suits if you ask me!!!

No it has not taken the Brits to do anything the Cypriots would not do for themselves.

We have always had pets, and we have always treated them well ... but there will always be a few people who do not, and that is the same everywhere. And that is what we have to address globally!

These few "do-gooder" colonial minded Brits just want praise at every turn of the page and an opportunity to bash Cyprus - just like YOU! ... and they are doing more harm to the attempts to gain extra help for the animals than any good.

It is not about them getting medals and accolades ... it is about people rising above the poverty level, worrying less about the danger from the Turkish invaders and being allowed to build their country so that priorities are well established.

Here is a link from the "underdeveloped" and "backward" occupied north:

http://www.kyreniaanimalrescue.org/

There is another one at Bogazi district of Famagusta though with no web link.

Both are run by Britts !

So, where are the animal lovers in E.U member RoC with per capita income 3 times as much than the poverished north, indeed ?

E.U membership and a vibrant and booming economy alone do not bring on civilization, it looks !

And then there are people who see things as they are.......Poisoned dogs and no real policy of controlling or stopping the proliferation of strays.....The majority have no idea of animal husbandry....That is a fact......If it takes the Brits to show people this then more power to their elbow....You should just say thank you for bringing you to the 21st century....

What is your point CBBB ... that cat was shot in the UK in Bury, whilst the family were on holiday in Cyprus .....

I know what you mean. I remember many years ago there was a news story about some drunken British yobs holidaying on a Greek island who, just for a "laugh", blinded a tethered-up donkey which they came across on their travels. I can imagine that any do-gooder British animal lovers who dared to wag a finger of disapproval at the locals may have received rather short shrift there for some time.

I was replying to zan who said the Brits were teaching us the way!

This is possibly one of the lessons we've learnt (to shoot cats)!

Not woken up yet O?
