I forgot to mention that I am lover of animals (not the Welsh way), give me a nice rabbit with onions, potatos and tomatos any time!

I will not mention the pickled birds again, that always gets me into trouble!

SSBubbles, you should know better than that! It was supposed to start at 3pm, it's only 4pm now. People are still on their way there!

Why protest at Parliament? It is easy for central government to pass a law in full accordance with EU directives yet have no follow up on the local level. It is the municipalities that are the real centers for enforcing animal welfare regulations, they are the ones you need to lobby.

CBBB wrote:So Cem you advocate animal rights before human rights. If I was another member of the forum I would suggest this is because your are all animals anyway, but I am not, so I will say get your priorities right!

Human rights and animal rights go side by side and in no way constitute an antithesis of one another !

One cannot pretend that he/she is humanist, while turning a blind eye to the fate of these poor creatures that we have to look after.

Look at some really civilized countries like Denmark or Sweden and look at others like Italy, Greece and Portugal.

The difference is striking with respect to treatment of stray animals.

Anyway, given that in another thread there was a case in which how one of your fucking medieval greek orthodox priests was treating a poor puppy just because it was resting on his father's grave; I would not be surprised to hear replies such as "you are all animals" kind.

All this simply is a living proof that a plain E.U membership does not suffice to inject a conscience into creatures of your kind.

So, in short, go to hell and fuck you !

You are not telling us, and perhaps yourself too, the whole truth. All the countries you mentioned have strict control programmes in place and strays that cannot be housed are put down. The reason why Vienna and Copenhagen are not awash with strays is that eventually strays are KILLED.

As long as you and others like you avoid this simple truth and try to import your own versions of animal welfare to countries in the Mediterranean there will never be a sane approach to the problem.

In Greece the animal lover lobby has convinced the Athens Municipality to collect strays, neuter them, vaccinate them and release them back into their "natural environment" where they can chase cyclists, bite pedestrians and spread protozoic diseased to our pets.

There is no vaccine for protozoic disease.

So those of us that have pet dogs live in dread of the annual Kala Azar test. All because some "animal lovers" have put a high political cost on real animal welfare through their good contacts in the media.

Cem try searching for the title "animal control officer" on the net and see what you come up with and which "first world" cities have them and what their job is. Then come and tell us.
