President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the Cyprus report which was approved by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was imbalanced and therefore would not be effective.
Speaking to journalists after attending this morning’s session of the Parliamentary Assembly, the President said the 541 and 550 Security Council resolutions, which had been recommended for removal by the previous secretary general and had not been used since then, have now been included in the report due to the Greek Cypriot side’s constant efforts for its inclusion.
‘This report wont be effective because it is not balanced’ stressed the President and added that he would be sending a written document which will include his criticism about the Cyprus report to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
