I dont know whay the fuss is about anymore. Some people are happy with this situation.
In the summer 198, I too was 'arrested' and was being frogged marched to the Turkish Army camp near Kormacit. My crime was taking pictures of the beautiful pine trees with a bright blue sky background of an area I had never visited before.
I was siezed by two Turkish soldiers who asked me if I had not seen the warning sign. I asked where the sign was. He showed me a rusty old sign covered in rust and probably peppered by locals with their shot guns. If it was not the for the lengthy intervention of the muhktar of the village, I am sure I would have had a 'lovely' reception. It was a while in the midday heat before he managed to convince the army that I was HIS guest. On the way back (eventually) I saw no military installations at all in the vicinity of that village. It had a new Turkish name which I do not remember. No one knew the Original name.
This is the Cyprus I love, but not like this. Idiots.
