The other side of history…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Greek place names like Lefkoniko and Ammochostos are spelled wrongly too. So lighten up folks!

Yes,lets concentrate on the spirit of the thread...
I can testify to an event which happened in my village in early 1964...I was not there but my grandfather told me later...Some GC irregulars from Polis tried to attack the cluster of TC villages at the skirt of the Paphos mountains...People from the neighbouring GC villages gathered their shotguns and stopped the would be murderers in their tracks...
"You will have to kills us first," they said..."we have lived like brothers in these parts for centuries, noone is going to change that..." 8)

Many similar stories happened all over Cyprus, but unfortunately most people choose to concentrate on the isolated incidents of massacres...

Its up to us as individuals to make an effort to learn each others alphabet at least, understand the phonetics of a language. There is a big difference in a phonetic language and a language where diphtongs ose used profusely. Try and adapt as we are a long way away from a universal language and alphabet. Its what makes each language group interesting.

I too would like to thank these people for their bravery.....Without such instances and Turkey coming to our aid, we would have been wiped off the face the earth long ago......

But somehow you have managed to increase to 80 Million and growing faster than most other populations .... Perhaps your "fears" are unfounded and reality speaks a different story.

Yes Zan, you are absolutely right. And the problem is that your faith remain the same. You know, there is no difference of being a shelter of 1974 or 1578. You are the same thing. You have a home land , Turkey, you can find rest there. We born here in the island (GREECE never occupied Cyprus) -this is our difference. You are Turks of Cyprus and we are Cypriots - Greeks. Big difference.

The other side of history…

Shocking was the history of two former captives of Cypriot tragedy 1974, Greekcypriot, Christos Kyprianou of 70 years today from Leykonoiko and now in the Larnaca and the Turkishcypriot, Achmet Giorgatze of 51 years today from Tzaos and now in possessed Ammochosto. They met for second time in the Larnaca, the last 15 days, this time in the restaurant “ENALIA” which manages the girl of Kyprianou and they remembered all from the start. The first meeting in the Larnaca before 15 days became with initiative of the known journalist Sevgul Uludag and they agreed to meet today as it as well. Achmet was 17 ½ of years on 15 July 1974 and worked as builder in Nicosia. He's been rescued however from the 36 year old Kyprianou and other in possessed Nicosia and afterwards the second phase of Turkish invasion, he went to his village Tzaos. There he never forget the help of Kyprianou.
Thus when on 17 August 1974 Kyprianou was caught captive in Leykonoiko by turkish army and transfered to Tzaos for execusion, he was found by the 17 year old Achmet and he was saved. “Don't be afraid mastre Christos, I told the soldiers that you are not a soldier”. Thus Kyprianou saved his life, thanks to the young then, Achmet. When he was released from the captivity he moved to Larnaca. He made a family and is pensioner builder. Achmet is now in Ammochosto. When opened the barricades before five years the first thing he did was to seek Kyprianou, but in Nicosia provided that there they worked in 1974. After efforts of 3 days it was disappointed, rather believed that Kyprianou was not saved from the turksih army. Apart from Sevgul Uludag who undertook helped him. And him accomplished they locate Kyprianou in the Larnaca before 15 days. Tears did not stop from the eyes of Kyprianou while he was telling his story. Achmet who does not know Greek and heard the translations that made for him. They promised to meet again.

Well , if the picture is real, i sign and approved union with Turkey today.

Do you have any idea what you are saying???? The fact that Greece did occupy the island is one thing but lets say for one minute you are right......You keep telling us that we are under siege from Turkey so we can safely say, in your eyes, we are the victims.......What are you then? You colluded with Greece to take over our CYPRUS and then you would have been Greek only not Cypriot.....So who has the bigger crime........
