To answer previous comments, we should have gone for a P and VP of TC and GC and alternating every year.

Why? whats wrong with a democratic one person one vote? What about the non-Cypriots?

Good morning DT. I was only taking the p--s. (going back to the 1960 Cyprus Constitution. Sorry. Its too early in the morning. But dont you think valuable votes have been wasted?

I thought it was too early to get into the deep end of a new voting system for a federal Cyprus.

I don't think the votes are wasted as they help us identify those that we should pressure into accepting office.

The GREEK general-ess is in the lead....Theres democracy for ya!!!!

Misc thoughts…

I’m starting to see the flaws of our voting system here; we’ll end up with a winner chosen by a mere 20 odd-%! Hmm…

The other problem is that people are treating this poll as a beauty contest. Most voters don’t seem to realize that this is not about who is the cutest, most popular, peaceful, or funny… it’s meant to be a serious vote for someone whom you think will be capable of arbitrating the political content of posts in the CyProb

ie: Voting for “John Citizen” because John is a “nice guy” is a stupid reason to vote for him however, if John is a stable character with a sound knowledge of the CyProb, a good contributor, and has a good sense of judgment, etc then these are all good reasons to vote for John.

Finally, I see very little or no contribution in the “ideas for president” thread… why? Don’t just stand there like a sheep and expect 2-3 people to do everything for you… get your head working and come up with ideas about what the president should or should not be doing and how. Thanks.

You are behaving EXACTLY the same as the TC representatives did in the 1960 RoC constitution; pessimistic, ignorant, dismissive, and just downright stupid! Admit it… you don’t want this to work just as your TC reps didn’t want the RoC to work!

It appears that some people LOVE chaos because that’s how their brain works.

OK then...I'll have a go...

It starts from here:
Vote for the President of the “Online CyProb Debaters Community” OCDC

Name of entity: “Online CyProb Debaters Community” (OCDC)

Leader's Title: President

Replacement of President: 51% successful challenge via a poll.

Ombudsman: A 51% successful challenge of the decision via a poll.
(Potential for abuse for minor incidents)

Leader’s Responsibilities: ( A mix of ideas for now...)

1. Copyright violations.
2. Off-topic-ness
3. Absence of links.
4. Abuse and Slander
5. Sheer stupidity

…etc, and keep a “Shame file” of violators. Everyone can start with a “credibility rating” of “100” but lose points when an entry is made in the shame file

- Will be able to jump with a ruling during serious disagreements without needing to resort to time-consuming polls and expensive campaigning.

- Will have full responsibility of the agenda regarding the Cyprob threads, eliminating (with admins help) useless threads that belong on the General Pages.

Will call deadlocked arguments. eg after 68 pages on a thread of the same arguments being tossed back and forth, the Pres or VP will be able to jump in with a ruling on the argument.

The VP role is to act on days when the president is away and to be used for advice by the President.

NB: Poll runs for 5 days.

And never stops!!!

First of all you put down a list of people down who are not interested in taking up the roles specified, thereby wasting votes.

Only one lady listed ensuring that the other ladies stood no chance of standing.

WHat do you call Rafaella? The scope of the president is over the Cyprob pages. How can you have a president that seldom visits or contributes to these pages?
