President and Vice President of the forum

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

President and Vice President of the forum

Postby DT. » Tue Sep 23, 2008 11:53 am

After witnessing the Paphitis/Milt central African voting circus, I have come to the conclusion that the Cyprob needs an elected representative.

The President and Vice President (must be a joint ticket) will be able to
1) Negotiate on behalf of the Cyprob forum members with admin and moderators regarding banning, censoring and all other matters relating to a check on the autocratic powers admin currently holds.
2)Will be able to jump with a ruling during serious disagreements without needing to resort to time-consuming polls and expensive campaigning.
3) Will have full responsibility of the agenda regarding the Cyprob threads, eliminating (with admins help) useless threads that belong on the General Pages.

Please post any other suggestions on the powers and responsibilities of the joint ticket here. We shall then proceed to accept candidates who wish to run for the election of elections here on the Cyprob.

This election is open to all candidates with at least 1000 posts to their name.

Sounds good, although I would disassociate such an elected person from the CF admin/management itself because this is a private enterprise after all.

There’s nothing wrong though with electing a “president” or “representative” for “GC forumers” or “TC forumers” or even “Cypriot online forumers” or whatever, but I feel it must not be associated with any specific forum name without the forum owner's approval.

I would nominate Kafenes as vice-president with veto rights. I find him as the most neutral of all forumers. I have a few ladies in mind too who are neutral, but wonder if Cypriots are ready for this.

Agreed. The only powers this twin elected rep will have are the powers we give them and agree to abide by no matter who wins the election. The spirit of these powers is to make the Cyprob threads much more efficient, enjoyable and helpful in discussion.

No Oracle, we want a democratic system here.

Deniz, if Kafenes agrees then he neds to find a running mate and stand for office.

Will it be 7 hours for the GC president and then 3 for TC president?

Should we have a poll on this?

No, the elections are colour/ethnic blind. One forumner one vote, only condition of candidacy is to have at least 1000 posts.
