Chas and Dave who are you living nextdoor to?

but zan in the uk tc's and gc's get along, why not in cyprus?
i do feel that the more racist people in our village are the people who never left. the ones who are more well travelled are not a problem. We take shit from a small minority , i do get angry but at the end of the dayi just feel sorry for them.
with a lot of other nationalities now living in cyprus, could it not be different this time?

....and how many 'legal' homes built illegally on TC properties.

Welcome to the forum, O 'rejected' one.

You are most welcome as long as you dont take to much notice of Chameleons.

There is difference when you are in someone else's country roseandchan. Believe me when I say I see the other side of these people living together in peace. It seems everyone is racist to a point. Birds of a feather flock together in strange lands. I am now working in Hendon for a while and in one block of 30 flats there are Jews and Arabs living together. They show respect to each other outside the home but inside is a different matter. am not saying that they are at each others throats or there are not any that get on like a house on fire, but I hear things from them that tell more about how they think.

what i was getting at was that now in living in cyprus you have a lot of other nationalities, surely this would keep things more balanced?
the whole of cyprus could come together under the e.u heading as europeans, not as tc and gc.
we all need to work together to educate those that cannot understand how to live with someone who is not from their ethnic background.
in the event of a solution would you be north or south zan? property wise?

My mum is from Lefkosa and my dad from Yesilirmak area (Gurutepe), all in the North. I as born in Iskele (Skala on my passport) which I believe the original village was iin the South just.

Apart from that little mixture....I would live with TCs as a choice I suppose and would probably get the same treatment as I have had where ever I lived, not quite belonging but not really caring and claiming my space. I have no problem with mixing with every culture and have friends from all over. I choose the person and not where they come from.....Confused...I am

i have friends in getcikale and yenibogazici, i like that area a lot. not so spolit and built up as girne.
our tc firend recently came back to live and is finding it very hard to cope with living with tc's. he was born in our village and most of the family still live here. he just doesn't have much in common with them anymore, which is a shame.

We had a look around to see if we could buy a second home in Cyprus when we were out there this summer. We found a house that was way out of our price range near Turtle beach. Whilst looking over the house we heard some English voices from next door and decided to go ask them what they thought of the area. There was a couple leaving as we went out of the show home and I asked if they owned the house next door and we would like to know what it was like living in the area. They aid they did not but called out to their friends " There's a family out here that would like to know about the house next door and what it is like living in the area". With that they both sighed and exclaimed " not more bloody English".....Both couples were English by the way. I did not spoil it for them at first and just asked the question and we stood and talked for a while. They seemed a little off until we told them that we could not afford the house. Then they seemed to tell us anything we wanted to know. It wasn't until I told them that I was a TC that they felt embarrassed about what they had said. They still didn't like the idea of English speaking people living next door though. I don't know what I expected from a Yorkshireman...  That is when I thought...Bloody idiots...Trying to tell me where to live in my own country....Then I remembered all tthe bloody idiots I have come across in my life and let it rest......Roll on lottery......I will just buy the house to piss them off!!!!
