Here is one I could never ignore.

"Guernica" by Pablo Piccasso.

A huge mural of a painting in which he shows the horrors endured by the good citizens of the city during an air-raid by the Nazi air-force during the Spanish Civil War.

Broken bodies of men, women and children, the symbolism of the torture chamber, human values torn apart....

Great find zan. Whilst working for Vivienne Westwood we did a photoshoot for US Flaunt magazine and we used this as the inspiration for one of the shots. Ill scan the magazine tomorrow and show you. :D

For me its simple natures art. In my childhood walking on Makenzie beach near Hala Sultan Tekke, I would pick up and wonder at the magnificent creations that are sea shells. The Nautilus being my favorite.

Ok I don't have a scanner and the net cafe wasn't open today so I had to take a picture of a picture, but you get the jist...I found that picture in a book at the time. Had no idea what it was or who it was by, but it fitted the "pirate" look we were after for the shoot. 8)

Nice :D

I used to love them too, I once found a HUGE shell in the depths of Kyrenia. It had a HUGE slug thing living in it too. :?

I took it home and put salt in it thinking it would be a good way to kill it. I left it outside and because of the heat it ended up stinking like SHIT!

Didn't have the stomach to clean it so I ended up throwing it in the bin. :(

I am sure I have done something on the same lines as that in my childhood. On the beaches under Galinoporni/Kaleburnu there are /were beatiful shells from which you can make mother of pearl. Large 10" long deep red/brown shells Lovely they were. Conches can be found too, where you can blow your trumpet or listen to the distant waves (or the blood rushing through your ears.
