Good morning Nikitas. I think you may be right about Kaimak Chalan.

On a flat plain, a simple mole hill would be sufficient for the purpose of command.

As to the name of Koca Tepe, you had to be around to appreciate the significance of the name.

Then they had the 'unsinkable ' Titanic. Such is life.

Well Zan, the path to peace and reconciliation is full of booby traps. You have to make a personal decision whether you want to act provocatively or with sensitivity to your neighbours. We all have to make a decision about our personal behaviour towards our neighbours. Being Cypriot I believe you would make the correct decision according to your conscience,

Religion and the overall message of religion is one thing mehmet because it is a message of peace but what sort of message will be received in the case of Makarios or Attaturk.

Really Zan, you disappoint me. Do you start this thread just to provoke, you ask a question, you get some answers but not the ones you expected and then you post an article to seek to prove that some in our communities are intolerant of each others cultures.

We already know that.

And as the article went on to say he was subject to judicial procedures.

My point remains the same, what personal sacrifice are you prepared to make in the name of a peaceful united Cyprus? Personally I can stomach Makarios though not Grivas. Who knows we might get statues of Cat Stevens, George Michael, Peter Andre instead. For our part we can offer Tracy Emin and her artworks as a gesture of reconciliation.

Welcome back Mehmet , and an excellent post. I'm afraid though you are wasting your time with Zan , you see he is besoted with Turkey , Enosis , TPap , Makarios , Grivas and any other euphemistically used description to prove to himself that only a total absorption of Cyprus by Turkey is worth anything. Unlike you and I who want a united Cyprus ruled by Cypriots for the benefit of Cypriots he wants his "motherland" Turkey to assimilate AND AT THE SAME TIME ELIMINATE THE T/Cs , all will be called TURKISH , NO T/C any more.

It is so easy for you to forget because everything you list are the things and persons that happened to us..The TCs......ut when i ask you to forget 1974 and the refugees and everything your lot suffered then it's a different story........You are the master of double standards and the seller of rubbish Chinese Knives.......You have no shame as a salesman and it shows in your attitude towards my people. you take the Greek line with your dismissals and then pretend to be the TCs friend.......Not everyone is fooled Miltiades.

What a blithering idiot you turned out to be !
Your are not only full of hatred your full of shit too. You never lived those years you Plonker you were not even born stupid so how come you know so much , Oh I know your grandmother told you. My levels of tolerance when it comes to stupidity ARE very low so do me a favour piss off to Turkey and leave the Cypriots to do their own thing . Sorry , I forgot , you are still in the UK suffering all the hostility and racial discrimination !!!
How dare you stupid insult my integrity , the people that know me understand fully what I stand for .

ps.How many Chinese knives did you buy from me !!

I didn't buy any Chinese knives but I warned off a few that thought about it...... 8) 8) 8)

What year wasn't I born in then Miltiades...Please enlighten me????

SO this is why my Chinese knife sales have plumetted !!!
As for the year of your birth , well lets see you came to the UK I believe you said at the age of 2 , in 1965 , therefore you were not around during the conflict , you also mentioned on a number of occasions that as a child growing up in the UK you had to endure discrimination , something that I who was 15 when arrived in the UK NEVER encountered , perhaps it is in your nature to imagine adverse events hence your focus on the propaganda sites that proclaim that the T/Cs were being butchered in Cyprus from 1922 up to the Turkish invasion !!!
You have one and one goal , the annexation of a part of Cyprus by Turkey , since on your own admission you experience racial harassment in the UK , IMAGINARY , and you have the erroneous belief that being amongst the Turks of Turkey ,( there will be no T/Cs left ) it will somehow exonerate all the perceived and imaginary harassment you went through in the UK.
GOOD LUCK !!

Word just got around that you sell any old crap Miltiades 8)

Now my age.....Your figures show how much you are prepared to listen to other peoples stories and how much you are up your own arse.....I have got a stinking cold this morning and am not really in the mood for your crap mate. You are so rubbish with numbers....And you are an accountant :?

I will try to tell you once again.....I was born in 1960....I have even linked it in with the birth of the first republic in Cyprus...The real republic not your "taken by the gun republic"......I was three when the first troubles started and have written my account on how traumatised it left me...Add to that the crying and screaming and the fear. You are a heartless bastard to even suggest that I did not suffer but I have gotten used to it by now because there have been only a handful of GCs that even acknowledge what happened back then let alone the suffering and the aftereffects of such an existence.
You even have the ordacity to dismiss my pain in suffering through racism in the UK just because you walk around the world and this Forum with your head stuck up your ass and not noticing what he hell is going on. You have no idea what the TC people want because of it.

That is why I have no intention of letting you or anyone else wipe my people off the face of he earth with your "Cypriot" crap when all you care about is what you think and what you want. Well.......We don't want it mate so you had better print this post off and hang it on your wall because it seems you are so full of yourself that you need a constant reminder about what we are about.

I will thankyou for finally showing your true colours in dismissing what we went through in dismissing my personal story. You only have your interests at heart and hat is plain to see in this one post alone let alone the racist and bigoted remarks of your past posts.

This is not a game for me dear Miltiades.....I will do all I can to stop you from the persecution of my people and the extinction of a proud and deserving race...The TURKISH CYPRIOT.

Enough of these nonsense about your people , because the huge majority of T/Cs are NOT your people , remember your motherland is Turkey. How come you suffered so much discrimination in the UK , I did not , neither did my children , nor my two brothers and one sister along with their off springs totalling 10 !! It appears that you are prone to " discriminatory " harassment " !!!
Zan , you are but a small minority amongst T/Cs , let me tell you again, I KNOW MORE TURKISH CYPRIOTS THATN YOU WILL EVER KNOW .
As for my Chinese knives Being crap , what the hell do you expect from a third world manufacturing country !!! Must try Turkish knives next !!

I am just trying to be honest mehmet. I look at that mans face and see my childhood spoiled. That is my honest feeling and I am sure it will be the same for many more.

I am concerned though that many have not taken this question seriously....Is it because they don't want to think about it. That is dangerous. If we are to take peace on board then we have to "cross the t's and dot the i's". We have to look at everything with a critical eye and if we don't we are doing ourselves a disservice. Did South Africa just turn a blind eye to it's ghosts????

Zan,

I am sorry for you for the experience you had as a child, but surely more than Makarios was involved with the events that led to your experiences?

With regard to the i's and t's we know that the nationalists will be looking to stir the shit at every opportunity. We have to disassociated ourselves from them and have a strong police and judicial system to take care of the criminals who would seek to sabotage the state that is set up. Knocking down statues etc will come in time if people think they are irrelevant.

Peter Andre was your suggestion ... unlike the Turks we do not idolise one representative since we have many ...

Emin is out on all accounts, as your sole contribution!

No one asked you to choose from our many outstanding GCs who should be substituted ....

Pardon me for suggesting some heroes of Greek Cypriot origin, we can come up with more than just a controversial yet internationally respected artist, UB40 for instance (thanks Zan).

Thanks mehmet.

The nationalists you are talking about are the ones in the street and not the ones I am talking about mehmet. The ones that concern me are in power...Those that are going to control the police. Those like Tpap who are in the same frame of mind as they were then.

Nationalists are in both communities seeking to define themselves and by definition others. They have successfully crippled Cyprus by dividing us. Let us fight against them with all means necessary. Tpap and Denktas are not in power, their outlook is becoming dated. The future still needs to be defined. So what's it to be? Two states that are in denial of history or one where we work daily to reverse the damage that has been done by this ideology? You menitoned South Africa, didn't they have a big drive towards Peace and Reconciliation. Well, is it time to be reconciled with history and move forward or not?

Mehmet , I have always admired your wisdom and I support fully your sentiments. We can not allow the extremists to continue on their journey of causing more damage to our people. The past must be put behind , as indeed the great man advised in South Africa. Mandela had every conceivable excuse to turn violent against those that persecuted him and his people.
We have all suffered in the hands of the extremists. Zan IS an extremist , the opposite to GR , Paphitis is an extremist the opposite to BigAll , they are everywhere , we must challenge them in the name of all peace loving CYPRIOTS.

Miltiades, I don't want to get involved between you and Zan although it's not pleasant to see the exchanges between yourselves. But I have to say that my instinct (for what it's worth) tells me that Zan is not an extremist.
