Here is part of the map of Larnaca with the street names, have a look at it and tell me if you notice anything.

I would agree with some monuments and some names to be removed, for example Grivas in our case, but this doesn't mean we should erase from history everybody that some of you don't like.

Oh Goodness, the Turks even named a street in Larnaka after the name of Lala Mustafa, the butcher of 20,000 Nicosians, when he conquered the city in 1571. What a hero!

Why would we ban statues of Big Mak. He was a former democratically elected President of the RoC!! :? :? :?

If it comes to it, the balance is not between Makarios and Attaturk. More likely between Venizelos streets and Attaturk etc. Makarios was a Cypriot, church leader and then politician, he was not a foreigner. There are TWO statues of Makarios in the south, how many busts of Atta are there in the north?

National holidays in federal state will no doubt include holidays unique to each federal state as well as federal holidays, which will tie in well with the triple layered civil service and the various fringe benefits. It is a fair bet that the unions will demand the maximum days off.

With so many public holidays for (un)civil servants there would be some very quiet days on here. Most of them are too busy at home to make any posts!

Daily basis? How? Where do you see his face so frequently? Last time I was in Cyprus last year I did not see a photo or statue of Makarios, just one avenue named after him.

Would that be the same in the north with those kitchy statues of Atta? They seem to be everywhere. Who makes them anyway? Whoever he is, he must be filthy rich.

Exactly the question that was put to you in the beginning Nikitas...This is not about how many but would you want to ban Attaturk from Cyprus and do you think that it would be acceptable to TCs.......That is the question that hangs over many other items......How about Turkish TV....They bellow out Attaturk by the minute....Do you ban that for us...If not in our homes then maybe in public places...Are we to hide who we are because you think Cyprus is GC.........ow how about answering the question stop farting about???

Zanny, for old time’s sake, I’d happily give you the Grivas bust with which you can adorn your home office… :D

PErsonally I think the 999,999,999,999 busts of ataturk are an overkill, but if thats what makes you happy have 1-2 of them somwehere so that you don't suffer too much from this strange illness of having to see him everywhere you go.

As far as Big Mak goes, I agree he's not in the same league as he is a Cypriot leader not a Turkish or Greek one however in danger of seeing Denktash busts everywhere after the fat f**k dies I vote to get rid of all busts of Makarios as well (I think there's 2 in the whole island.)

You can watch any TV channel you like, I know this is strange for Zan but after you unite with us you will no longer have to live in a police state as you do now. No more jail for graffiti, no jail for flying flags the "govt" doesn't agree with. It'll take some adjustment from you but you'll catch on to freedom quite quickly.
