Its just a press release from a tour company that specialses in tours to the occupied part.

They're trying to get some publicity and because talks are under way they've isolated this small part of the talks as if they're close to agreeing on it. Halil will become a vegetarian before direct flights are granted before a solution to the occupied part.

I flew to Ercan on a direct flight from Stansted airport. We thought that it would land at Antalya, but never did. No I did not fall asleep. I know it was not official, but it had been like that for a while.

There is this hunch I got, that Christofias thinks that a solution is a first step, and after the solution it will be possible to fix things left undone. We tried that before and know the results.

Now for the flights, the issue is not that they are non stop or not. Obviously they fly into the Turkish FIR, change course and continue on to Tymbou. The issue is for these flights to enter Cyprus FIR officially. The usual ironies hold true. Turkey wants these flights to be accepted in Cy FIR, even though Turkey does not recognise Cyprus, because by doing so it gains indirect recognition of TRNC. One more dose of the usual bullshit of the Cyprus issue.

we had similar news at weekly Cyprus -star news paper.

The Former Chief Justice of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Taner Erginel, made exclusive statements to the Cyprus Star, over the issue of direct flights to Northern Cyprus and the continuing isolation of the country.
Erginel have his views on the direct flights issue, and said that the Chicago Convention, which regulates international commercial aviation, did not make it ‘unlawful’ for direct flights to be made to the TRNC.

Erginel also said that there would be an important English High Court hearing in February 2009, following the decision of the English Ministry of Transport not to allow direct flights from Northern Cyprus.

The Former Chief Justice said that he believed the case would be won and that direct flights between the UK and the TRNC would start soon.

Don't u think it was too early to give u the good or bad news DT.....

may be at 2009 we can fly with you from ERCAN - ISTANBUL .... than i guess there will be no excuse for u ....that we can have Raki and Fish under the İstanbul bridge .... Specially under the Fatih Sultan Bridge .... place called Yıldızlar (STARS)

halil, I have no problem in getting to Istanbul via Athens. Once Turkey joins the rest of the world and allows flights from Larnaka and Paphos then I will be able to go quicker.

Now if you consider "news" from a former(!) non-recognised offical of the "trnc" as upsetting to me then I can also start quoting you what my Sri-Lankan gardener told me today about the super collider experiment in Switzerland.
