So much for Turkeys "TRNC" reckognition

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

So much for Turkeys "TRNC" reckognition

Postby iceman » Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:16 am

We hear everyday on the forum from certain inidividuals how gratefull they are from Turkey for reckognising & supporting "TRNC".
We hear everyday about the "embargoes" and "isolation" put up on us by the evil ROC...

well.........I we just spent an hour looking for a link on the web for the following but i have not come across one yet..
This has been made news in some local TC papers today but unfortunately they avoid puting it in their online versions...
I wonder why? Are they embarrassed or ashamed?

Last night there was Women's European EHF Cup - Round 1 first match between HC Aradhippou (CYP) VS Üsküdar B. S. K. (TUR) in Larnaca
The Turkish team flew to larnaca Airport and played the match with the Cypriot team..

So much for embargoes and isolation's!!!
Is this how Turkey recognizes "TRNC"? when TC athletes/footballers are not allowed to play an event with even Turkish teams the Turkish teams don't see anything wrong with flying to Larnaca to play a Cypriot team.

It probably doesn't count because it was a Women's Event ....

Actually, as well not recognising the "TRNC" ... it now therefore recognises the RoC.

You're on your own "TC"s ... Turkey is our new best friend

No one said we do not have problems with Turkey AS WELL iceman.....It is you that is only looking at it one way. That aside....Do you think that whilst talks are in progress some good will should be applauded instead of criticised. Yes I know there may be some ulterior motives as well but that is the nature of this problem. Perhaps when the friendly with the TC team was going to happen then it should have been allowed to.

we went to the friendly match which was stopped last year. i blame fifa. football is sport, it shouldn't involve politics.
i think turkey is just moving towards being european.

It is interesting to debate whether the TRNC has not been a thorn in the side of Turkey, or indeed whether Turkey even wished to see it proclaimed at in the first place. Some people argue that this was a fait accompli engineered by Denktash that Turkey was unable to back down from supporting.

This may have been posted here before, but in case it hasn't on pages 398-399 of Soner Yalcın's book entitled Bay Pipo about the history of the Turkish Intelligence service we find the following passage which is taken from an interview Rauf Denktash gave to the Turkish Milliyet newspaper on 9 January 1985 (my translation)

TRNC President Rauf Denktash repeated his allegation concerning the connection between MIT [the Turkish intelligence service] and his son: "Raif suffered a lot of abuse, a lot of attacks just because his surname was Denktash. Allegations were made. Unknown hands in Turkey released various peices of information against me or against Raif to force me into compromising. We have established that certain busybodies within MIT released these things. The aim was to weaken us and force us to agree. A group or certain names within Turkish intelligence did this to intimidate me."
President Denktash, while stating that he did not know how certain people from MIT appeared to have obtained "this power", gave a message between the lines: "Turgut Özal was angry with Cyprus because we caused him trouble by proclaiming the TRNC in 1983 just as he had come to full office (president's office). He was somehow unable to comprehend this."

I do not know why you are so surpised about this event Iceman.
It's not the first time that Turkish teams come to Cy through legal airports. Trapzonsport did the same and also other handball teams and if I am correct also basketball teams.
Also there was a meeting /event sometime ago where two turkish generals participated, I hope to find a link regarding them coming to CY.
...and if it's not known to you by now, Denktas grandson is a CyR passport holder. "Denktas: I Gave the Consent to My Grandson" http://hurarsiv.hurriyet.com.tr/goster/ ... wid=472401
Therefore, as you see all this bla-bla regarding "trnc" recognition is nothing. Indirectly your precious matherland recognises CyR.

Not surprised...just pissed of with the fact that some people here refuse to see the real intentions of Turkey...
Events like this should make them realize what really is going on and who is keeping us under embargoes & isolation's...
