Not only were the traitor Turk-TCs employed by the Brits to cause unrest wherever/whenever possible ... the very fact that an effective police-force ceased to exist for genuine civil cases, threw the country into near unruly chaos.
Imagine the ordinary GC civilian, without a police-force to turn to for general matters; let alone the danger of actually encountering one of these armed, licensed killers.
Those were dark, sad, satanic times for GCs ... Only EOKA gave hope for an end to this slavery.
Any uniformed Colonialist thugs could enter and search your home at all hours of the day or night ... cause injury and threats, even steal ... and then there was no friendly policeman to complain to
... just more paid uniformed thug TCs.
The TCs betrayed us to the Brits, and then betrayed us to the Turks. I do not want a third betrayal from them ... No more power to the Turks over our Island!
very eloquently put - almost sounds like you were there
My personal unfortunate encounters with Turks, were at a later date.
The above are from the few anecdotes I have managed to extract from relatives and some RAF acquaintances.
Still, the Turks seem to supply regular enough experiences for most of us to have a taste of their tyranny at some point or other in our lives ....
Use your brains girl……the unruly chaos was caused by Eoka trying to make Cyprus a part of Greece, not by the tcs paying with their lives to prevent such.
Who were traitors to the cause of an Independent Cyprus, those who trid to unite Cyprus with Greece, or those who fought for it not to be united with Greece?……………time you looked up the meaning of some of the words you use. Understand them properly.
May I ask was if you who termed that phrase “traitor tc” or was it your relatives or your RAF buddies…………..whoever it was they definitely failed to rewrite history to benefit their own stupid pretentious perverted virws.
I am from Kophinou, I know all about the “bravado” of your murdering “heros”.
Ask your same relatives and Raf buddies about Kophinou Nov 1969, when hero Grivas drove the entire national guard into my village screaming “ive come to drink Turkish Blood” and then attacked unarmed Turkish old ladies with greneades and machine hail…………..very brave. He then rounded up women and children into a hall and had his soldiers pour petrol all around that hall. He only stopped when Makarios was told by Ankara that if Grivas did not withdraw at once Turkey would attack…………………
Traitors .my arse…………………you and your sick like are the traitors.
